FAQs

Q: What should I wear?
A: We suggest wearing something comfortable that allows for ease of movement. If you wear a bra, we recommend one without metal wiring (like a sports bra) as it can be uncomfortable when practising a chest harness.

Q: Do I need a partner/rope model to join your classes?
A: If you are coming to a Beginner 1, Intensive beginner class or a rope jam, you are more than welcome to come by yourself. If you are joining the Beginner 2 or Intermediate 1 or 2 classes we highly recommend attending with someone who can be your rope model/rigger/switch. If you can’t find a partner or your model is unavailable, you can still attend. You may be able to practice ties on yourself, a prop (like a chair), or simply observe to practice later at home. Additionally, join our Facebook group “Peer Rope Melbourne” to find a rigger/rope model and ask questions.

Q: Will I need to bring my own ropes?
A: For Beginner 1 and Intensive Beginner Classes we have you covered. We have ropes for you to borrow in class.  If you are joining a Beginner 2 or Intermediate class, yes, it’s essential to have your own gear. You’ll need at least 3-4 pieces, each 8 meters long, along with safety shears.

Q: Does my model need to pay?
A: Yes. At Peer Rope Melbourne, our classes are designed to be educational for both the top/rigger/giver and bottom/bunny/receiver. This ensures fairness, equality, and accessibility for everyone regarding cost.

Q: What if I miss one of the classes?
A: If you miss one of the classes, don’t worry. Our teachers always review the main ties taught in the previous session at the beginning of each class, ensuring you stay on track with the material. However, if you know you will miss the first class of the Beginner course, we recommend joining the next scheduled course as it introduces important concepts such as consent, boundaries, and safety.

Q: I just finished my Beginner 1/ Beginner 2 course but don’t feel ready to step up. What are my options?
A: No worries! Feel free to rejoin the next Beginner 1/ Beginner 2 next month with one of our other PRM teachers. Each course is led by a different instructor, each featuring a unique teaching style and additional tips and techniques, providing you with a well-rounded learning experience.

Q: Can I get a refund if I miss a class or the entire course?
A: Unfortunately, tickets are non-refundable. However, they can be transferred to another person for the same event. Email Elisa info@peerropemelbourne.au to facilitate the transfer.

Q: Who are the Beginner Classes suitable for?
A: The Beginner 1 and Intensive Beginner Classes are designed for absolute beginners and anyone that need to refresh the basics.

Q: Who are the Beginner 2 Classes suitable for?
A: The Beginner 2 Classes are designed for individuals with basic Shibari skills who want to work on their rope tensions, and frictions and learn how to use the ropes for floor and connective play.

Q: Who are the Intermediate Classes suitable for?
A: The Intermediate Classes are designed for individuals with a solid rope bondage foundation who wish to further develop their skills and techniques.

Q: How can I book your next classes?
A: You can get your tickets here. Limited spots are available, so early registration is recommended to secure your place.

Q: Can I attend individual classes or is it necessary to attend the entire series?
A: For Beginner 1 and 2 classes, we sell only the whole course, except if you have already joined one of these courses in the last three months and want to just join a class or two to review specific skills.

For intermediate classes, while it is recommended to attend the entire series to progress steadily and build upon the knowledge gained, it is possible to attend individual classes if space permits. However, each class focuses on a specific tie, so attending the entire series will provide a more comprehensive learning experience.

Q: Can I take videos or pictures during the class?
A: Yes, you are welcome to take pictures or videos of yourself and your model during the class, provided that you and your model have consented. Please refrain from taking pictures or videos of other participants without their explicit consent.

Q: Who can come to the space?

A: Our space is open to individuals aged 18 and above, provided they adhere to Peer Rope Melbourne’s Terms and Conditions.

Q: How do I get there?

A: We utilize various venues for our classes and events, primarily located in the Brunswick and Northcote areas. Please check your ticket to ensure you have the correct address.

Q: Left something behind at our space?

A: While we don’t assume responsibility or liability for lost items, if we find anything we do collect and store them temporarily. Please email us at info@peerropemelbourne.au with a description of your lost item.

Q: Can I give gift an event/class to a friend/partner?

A: Absolutely! All our events and classes can be purchased online and make for great gifts. If you are looking for a gift card to let your friend/partner choose when to use it, email us at info@peerropemelbourne.au and we can send you one.
