In-Person classes
At Peer Rope Melbourne, we offer a range of in-person classes designed to cater to different skill levels, from beginners to advanced practitioners. Our classes are held three times a week, on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights.
To provide maximum flexibility and accessibility, our classes rotate monthly. This means that each level will be available on a different night each month, allowing more people to join our Shibari classes.
To progress to the next level, students must demonstrate a solid understanding of the techniques and safety protocols taught in their current level. Our experienced instructors provide personalized feedback to help students achieve this.
The beauty of our school is that each teacher brings their own unique experience and style to the learning process, enriching the overall educational experience.
Intensive Beginner Class
For those who live far away or have busy weekday schedules, we offer an Intensive Beginner class every two months. This weekend class is 4 hours long and is a perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the basics of Shibari in a short amount of time.
Rope Jams and Special Classes
In addition to our regular classes, we host rope jams where participants can practice and socialise in a relaxed environment. We also plan to introduce special intermediate classes on weekends soon, providing more opportunities for advanced learning and community building.
Private Classes for any level

Great news! Peer Rope Melbourne is introducing new Beginner classes on Wednesday nights, making it the perfect opportunity to explore the world of Shibari. This course is designed for beginners and anyone who needs to refresh the basics.
During these classes, we'll talk about the history of shibari, terminology, the different types of ropes, and which one to choose and how to take care of them. We'll also focus on creating good communication and setting and maintaining healthy boundaries between the rigger and the rope model to create a safe and fun experience.
The instructor will guide you through essential traditional ties, such as single and double-column ties, leg and arm ties, half-hitch and much more, ensuring you develop a strong foundation in rope bondage. You'll start to understand tensions and frictions and their importance in creating safe ties. With no prior experience required, this course promises to be an exciting journey into the captivating art of Shibari. Don't miss out on this incredible opportunity to expand your skills and connect with like-minded individuals.
The classes are $80 per person for Early Bird Tickets, or $90 per person for General Admission, for all four classes, with limited numbers.

Beginner 2
Classes
Peer Rope Melbourne is starting a new Beginner 2 course.
It will run for four weeks, on Thursday nights, from 7pm pm to 9 pm, in Brunswick.
This course is designed for people who already have basic shibari skills. It is important to have done the beginner PRM course in the past or one of the intensive or have already shibari knowledge from other rope schools. You need to know at least how to perform well a single column tie, and half hitch and have good knowledge of tensions and frictions.
During the course, you will learn different chest harnesses, hands-free and hands in front, leg ties, different rope play positions, and combinations of previous ties learnt in Beginner 1 (don't worry if you don't remember all the ties or if you come from a different rope school, we will review everything at the beginning of each class to be sure everyone is at the same skill level before to progress into something more complicate). Also, we will start to play with movements, positions and connections between the rigger and the bunny. Shibari is not only knots and ties.
Early Bird Tickets $80 per person, for all four classes.
General admission $90 per person, for all four classes.

In 2025, we’re introducing a new format for Intermediate 2 Shibari classes through an exciting collaboration with Starlove Shibari. Starlove will be managing the classes, including setting the dates, times, and programme, while working with us to create a safer and more intimate learning environment with smaller group sizes.
These classes are tailored for those who have completed Intermediate 1 or who bring equivalent experience from other schools, offering a progression into more advanced Shibari techniques and concepts. With up to six suspension points available in our venue (potentially expanding to eight), the classes provide an opportunity to explore partial and full suspensions as your skills and confidence grow.
Safety remains our top priority, and we’ll ensure that each step forward is taken at a pace that builds a strong, steady foundation. Revisiting and perfecting techniques from Intermediate 1 will be a key part of the process, as this groundwork is essential for safe and enjoyable practice.
If you’d like to maintain and sharpen your skills in the meantime, we encourage you to join our weekly Intermediate 1 classes. These sessions are a fantastic way to refine your techniques, explore new variations, and deepen your understanding of rope bondage.
Intermediate 2 classes will take place on weekends, typically in the late morning or afternoon. Dates will be announced periodically by Starlove. Stay tuned for updates, and we look forward to welcoming you into this next stage of your Shibari journey!
